Have you ever heard of synesthesia? It's a perceptual phenomenon in which information meant to stimulate only one sense stimulates several senses instead. This "crossing of the senses" explains why people with this condition are able to, for example, see colors when they hear music. Just imagine how it feels to actually "see sounds."

Pharrell Williams is no stranger to synesthesia. In fact, he attributes much of his success to this ability to convert sounds into visual information. Pharrell offers a simple explanation, "The seven primary colors, including red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet, all correspond with musical notes. And the color white, he explains, blends all colors and gives an octave in terms of music."

People who are blessed to experience this strange but wonderful phenomenon, use it as inspiration for creating some of the best musical pieces we've ever heard. But, generally speaking, songwriters often associate colors with sounds. This is evidenced by the sheer volume of songs with colors in the title. Many of them are actually songs about colors, while others use colors to represent different emotions.

Even if you can't turn sounds into colors, you'll surely have fun listening to these songs.
