When your world is filled with people who refuse to support your dreams, shut them out and play 'Have it All'.

Essential Lyrics:

Well here's to the hearts that you're gonna break
Here's to the lives that you're gonna change
Here's to the infinite possible ways to love you
I want you to have it
Here's to the good times we're gonna have
You don’t need money, you got a free pass
Here's to the fact that I'll be sad without you
I want you to have it all

2. "Brave" by Sara Bareilles

Album: The Blessed Unrest

Year: 2013

You need encouragement to move forward with your life. Whether it's for your unachieved dreams or to speak your mind, Brave is the ideal tune. It's not easy to jump into our plans, in fact it can be downright intimidating. The word encouragement features courage in the middle of it for a reason! If you need to work on being courageous, be sure to add Brave to your encouragement playlist.

Essential Lyrics:

You can be amazing
You can turn a phrase into a weapon or a drug
You can be the outcast
Or be the backlash of somebody’s lack of love
Or you can start speaking up
Nothing’s gonna hurt you the way that words do
And they settle ‘neath your skin
Kept on the inside and no sunlight
Sometimes a shadow wins
But I wonder what would happen if you

3. "Hope" by Natasha Bedingfield

Album: Was a Single Release Only (No Album)

Year: 2015

Natasha Bedingfield recorded this song for beauty brand Philosophy's Hope & Grace charity initiative to support community-based mental health organizations. If the encouragement you're seeking has to do with keeping your spirit up and remaining hopeful, add Hope to your playlist. Sometimes all we need is a glimmer of hope to start the fire of possibility. Let Hope in.

Essential Lyrics:

You see, I've got hope
So you could use a little, use a little
Leave it when you've done it
And I won't let go
'Cause with a little, with a little it can go a long way
I've got hope
So you could use a little, use a little
Leave it when you've done it
And I won't let go
'Cause with a little, with a little it can go a long way
I've got hope

4. "Incredible" by Celine Dion with Ne-Yo

Album: Loved Me Back to Life

Year: 2013

You're dreams are big. There's an ache inside of you that wants to achieve everything you've planned and you need a song to encourage you to keep going. You've worked incredibly hard to get this far, and at times you wonder if you have the strength to stay the course. When you're feeling vulnerable put 'Incredible' on repeat. The lyrics tell you exactly what you need to hear, "let's make them remember we were incredible, simply incredible".

Essential Lyrics:

Whole world is watching us now
It's a little intimidating
But since there's no way to calm down
Let's give them some amazing

5. "Stronger" by Kelly Clarkson

Album: Stronger

Year: 2011

If the encouragement you need is to be stronger and to keep going, then Kelly Clarkson's song "Stronger" is perfect for you. You've been through so much, and you just don't know where the end is, or how you've managed to survive it all. If all of this sounds like your life at the moment, the lyrics to Stronger are not only encouraging, they're an anthem for strength. Stand tall and head into your storms knowing you'll come out stronger in the end.

Essential Lyrics:

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone
What doesn't kill you makes a fighter
Footsteps even lighter
Doesn't mean I'm over cause you're gone

6. "Human" by The Killers

Album: Day & Age

Year: 2008

The lyrics are subject to interpretation, but for me this song screams encouragement. You're holding back in this life, not giving it your all and these lyrics are reminding you to let go and be who you were meant to be. Choose your destiny, don't leave it to chance. You're in control. As the lyrics say, "Are we human, or are we dancers". For me, our dancer lives inside waiting for us to hear the music and set it free.

Essential Lyrics:

Pay my respects to grace and virtue
Send my condolences to good
Give my regards to soul and romance
They always did the best they could
And so long to devotion
You taught me everything I know
Wave goodbye
Wish me well

If you've watched the movie Flashdance, you know all about this inspirational song. And make it happen
Pictures come alive
You can dance right through your life

Some people change
Against all odds
Against the grain
Love finds a way
Some people change

9. "Unstoppable" by Rascal Flatts

Single: Unstoppable (Olympic Mix)

Year: 2010

The original version of Unstoppable was rewritten as a song of encouragement for the USA athletes participating in the 2010 Winter Olympics. These lyrics are loaded with encouraging words to keep going no matter what. They're an anthem for getting up when you fall and for reaching deep within yourself to keep going and to make it happen.

Essential Lyrics:

You find your faith has been lost and shaken
Here's your chance and it's worth taking
Get on your knees and dig down deep
You can do what you think is impossible
Keep on believing, don't give in
You've got the strength, to raise the wind
Remember what one dream can do
You are unstoppable

10. "It's My Life" Bon Jovi

Album: Crush

Year: 2000

These lyrics are encouraging for those who have decided they're taking control of their life and nobody is going to distract them from that priority. If you've battled long enough with inner or outer demons and need an anthem playing on repeat to encourage you to keep going, this is your song. This classic Bon Jovi tune is a song for all generations.

Essential Lyrics:

It's my life
It's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just want to live while I'm alive
(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said
I did it my way
I just want to live while I'm alive
It's my life

General comments, or feel free to suggest another song about encouragement

Albert Diner on January 05, 2019:

yOu CALL THEM SONGS OF ENCOURAGEMENT. I call them songs of inspiration, songs that have a positive message, and create a harmonious ambiance. I usually go back further to the songs of the 1940s onwards. Its amazing how good a song can make you feel. I try to avoid viollent singing styles, more easy listening atmosphere. Thanks for the article.

I think we all need a bit of encouragement on certain days. I frequently turn on the radio to keep me company, especially on days when I need encouragement through an uplifting song. Loved your choices! You know I love Rascal Flatts, but the rest are great too.
