Whether you're convinced the whole world has gone a little mad or you're simply celebrating being crazy in love, have fun with this Crazy Playlist of pop, rock and country songs about being crazy in love or just plain crazy.

Everyone's a Little Bit Crazy

Sometimes it seems like the whole world has gone a bit mad. While some of us entertain crazy ideas and warped ways of thinking, others pursue crazy impossible dreams like quitting a full-time job to blog for a living or climbing Mt. Everest.

We may express our deepest thoughts via social media or fall in love at first sight with a stranger. Being crazy in love is exhilarating. It's the best drug there is, and if you're lucky, then the right dose can last a lifetime.

You have to admit everyone is a little bit crazy. There's no sense in trying to hide it or being ashamed. Celebrate your brand of craziness with a playlist of pop, rock and country songs. We have a long list to get you started. Now you go keep being you!

1. "Crazy" by Patsy Cline

Poor Patsy Cline. In this 1961 song, she plays the part of a lonesome woman who has been left by a man she adores. But instead of blaming him for replacing her with someone new, she blames herself, thinking that she was crazy for loving him, crazy that she could ever hold onto him.

Patsy, get a grip, girl. You were just crazy in love. You'll find another.

2. "People Are Crazy" by Billy Currington

In this 2009 country song, a good old boy meets a stranger at the local watering hole. They belly up to the bar and talk until 2 a.m. about politics, women and all the mysteries of life. They both agreed that "God is great, beer is good and people are crazy."

Although our protagonist never sees the stranger again, he realizes later on that he must've made quite an impact. A millionaire has died and left his fortune to a some guy he met in a bar. (Yep, it was him.) People are crazy.

"One is very crazy when in love." - Sigmund Freud, Austrian neurologist and founder of psychoanalysis

3. "Let's Go Crazy" by Prince and the Revolution

Back in 1984 when this song was released, we couldn't have imagined that Prince would die of a drug overdose, alone in his Paisley Park elevator. Given what we now know, this song's lyrics add an eerie layer to his legacy.

The message behind his hit is that the life we are living now is much harder than the afterlife we have to look forward to. Referencing the devil, the song warns that

Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill.
Hang tough, children.
He's comin'.

The song encourages listeners to resist evil influences: "... if the elevator tries to bring you down, go crazy, punch a higher floor." Is it possible that in a crazy way Prince forecasted elements of his own death?

4. "Before He Cheats" by Carrie Underwood

Something tells me that the woman in this 2005 country song was a little crazy all along, even before her boyfriend cheated on her. But then he was unfaithful, and it made her batsh*t crazy.

Now the ex-boyfriend is receiving payback with interest for the pain and embarrassment he's caused her. Our female protagonist has skipped the crying part and gone straight to revenge. Although she won't be keeping her cheating man, she wants to teach him a lesson. Think of it as paying it forward for the next woman he dates:

... I dug my key into the side
Of his pretty little souped-up four-wheel drive,
Carved my name into his leather seats.
I took a Louisville slugger to both headlights,
Slashed a hole in all four tires.
Maybe next time he'll think before he cheats.

5."Crazy In Love" by Beyoncé and JayZ

One of Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, this song from 2003 is about a romantic obsession that causes the narrator to act crazy in love. When you're crazy in love you're not quite yourself. You'd do anything to be with your sweetheart. You don't care if you look or act like a fool. Ever done that? Yeah, me too.

6. "Crazy Stupid Love" by Cheryl Cole (featuring Tinie Tempah)

In this 2014 song, love has turned the protagonist into a total fangirl. Her heart sinks, her brain is in stop, and she wants lots of PDA. (And that is crazy embarrassing to people who have to look at you two cuddling in public!)

7. "Crazy" by Aerosmith

The woman in this 1993 song is driving the narrator up the wall with her nasty tricks and her threats to skip town, headed for Hollywood. Her boyfriend claims he wants more predictability, but he is magnetically drawn to her craziness and drama.

"My psychiatrist told me I was crazy, and I said I wanted a second opinion. He said, 'Okay. You're ugly, too.'" - Rodney Dangerfield, American comedian

8. "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley

The protagonist in this 2006 hit describes nearly losing his grip on reality because he came to understand too much. Whether with the help of hallucinogenic drugs or because of mental illness, he learns that you cannot control everything that happens in your life. Sometimes you just have to let the experience take you along for the ride.

Who do you think you are?
Bless your little soul
Do you really think you're the one in control?
Well, I think you're crazy
I think you're crazy
I think you're crazy
Exactly like me.

9. "I Go Crazy" by Paul Davis

When two old lovers meet again and one hasn't gotten over the over, the result can be emotional candor like this 1977. The man in the song claims to have recovered from his broken heart. While his ex-girlfriend has moved on, he has discovered too late that he loves her still.

"Life is beautiful, but people are crazy." - Charles Osgood, American television and radio commentator

10. "She Drives Me Crazy" by Fine Young Cannibals

The man in this 1988 rock song is obsessed with a woman who lies and plays emotional games with his heart. She makes him feel crazy and afraid of being on his own without her.

11. "Redneck Crazy" by Tyler Farr

This 2013 song is about a redneck fella who is flirting with stalking charges. While his cheating girlfriend has moved on, crazy Bubba is stuck in a low emotional gear.

At 3 a.m., he parks his Silverado pickup truck on her front lawn and shines its lights into her bedroom windows. As he finishes his beers, he throws his empties towards the house. Ain't no sense in that kind of crazy.

I hope you go crazy soon ... it's a lot of fun here.

I hope you go crazy soon ... it's a lot of fun here.

12. "Crazy Train" by Ozzy Osbourne

People born after the Cold War—with its buildup of weapons of mass destruction and mutual distrust between nations—may find it hard to relate to the lyrics from this 1980 metal song. But what is old is new again, including strained U.S-Russian relations.

The narrator laments about the senselessness of the international tensions. He complains that the conflict makes him feel like "I'm going off the rails on a crazy train."

13. "Lose My Mind" by Brett Eldredge

Forget comfort and stability in a partner. The guy in this 2015 rock song relishes the unpredictability and upheaval that his lover brings to his life:

You make all my screws come loose
Got me perfectly confused
Always find a way to mess me up and drive me wild
I love the way you make me lose my mind.

14. "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" by Queen

This protagonist in this 1979 classic rock song feels a little out of control when it comes to love. He says he can't handle it, that he must get around it, and he's not ready. His partner gives him a hot and cold fever and leaves him in a cool sweat.

15. "Mad Hatter" by Melanie Martinez

Like Alice in Wonderland, the protagonist in this 2015 indie song exists in a surreal world where nothing is quite as it seems. The so-called "normals" make her feel uneasy, and those she calls "crazies" bring her comfort.

Unashamed of her mental illness, the protagonist provides reassurance to others like herself:

So what if I'm crazy? The best people are
All the best people are crazy, all the best people are.

16. "Crazy For You" by Madonna

The woman in this sensuous 1985 hit attempts to play it cool when she sees someone she knows in a smokey dance club. Magnetically attracted to him, she is dying to reveal her true feelings:

I'm crazy for you
Touch me once and you'll know it's true
I never wanted anyone like this
It's all brand new, you'll feel it in my kiss
I'm crazy for you, crazy for you.

Need a Check Up From the Neck Up?

His eyes say it all.

His eyes say it all.

17. "Still Crazy After All These Years" by Paul Simon

When the narrator in this 1975 Grammy-winning pop song runs into an old lover on the street, they share memories over a few beers. After parting ways with her, he reflects on his life in a nostalgic and lonely way. The narrator's use of the phrase "still crazy after all these years" reflects his realization of how much time has passed. The world seems to have left him behind.

18. "Crazy Girl" by Eli Young Band

In the middle of this couple's argument, the guy just up and walks out. What's a girl to do when her man won't stand there and fight it out with her like most couples do? It drives her plumb crazy.

The man in this 2011 country song has to pick up the pieces and explain that he's not going anywhere in their relationship. He loves her like crazy and is here for the long haul.

19. "Miss You Like Crazy" by Natalie Cole

Being separated by time and space from her lover has made the woman in this 1989 pop song miss him like crazy. She's still crazy in love with him and more than anything seeks to get back in his arms.

20."Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" by Miranda Lambert

If you're from a small town, then you know someone like the woman in this 2006 country song. Her relationship may be over, but she won't let go easy.

Each time her ex-old man finds a new love, she tracks her replacement down to introduce herself -- in a way everyone will remember. Then she makes a scene, not giving a rip if she goes to jail:

Well those pretty girls can play their game
But they're damn well gonna know my name.
I'm a crazy ex-girlfriend.

"No one can drive you crazy unless you give then the keys."

"No one can drive you crazy unless you give then the keys."

Jack Hammer- Crazy Twist!!

Peggy - I thought they were most unusual as well! Who would buy such a thing?!?

Peggy Woods from Houston, Texas on April 26, 2020:

Patsy Cline's rendition of the song "Crazy" is the first one I thought of, and it made your # 1 list. It is a classic. Those head planters are strange-looking, or should I just say crazy. Ha!

FlourishAnyway (author) from USA on November 27, 2019:

Anthony - Beyonce and Jay-Z's song is #5. Maybe you overlooked it. I left the Eminem song off on purpose though. Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Anthony on November 27, 2019:

How could you not have "Crazy in Love" by Beyonce or "Crazy in Love" by Eminem

FlourishAnyway (author) from USA on May 16, 2019:

Shannon - I had never heard of them, but I like their sound. I added the song at #77. Thank you!

Shannon Henry from Texas on May 15, 2019:

Oh. ...crazy in love or just plain crazy? How about both? Can't think of who sings it off the top of my head, but there's a song called "Plane Crazy". SixForty1 maybe sings it?

FlourishAnyway (author) from USA on May 15, 2019:

Shannon - Thanks for the suggestion and for the compliment!

Shannon Henry from Texas on May 12, 2019:

Nice list! I just love your playlists. Stumbled upon this one while looking for songs for a playlist I'm doing for my website. Country songs about being crazy. So speaking of the two, I thought I'd maybe add a song to your list called "Country Crazy" by Amy Rose. If you like the suggestion, that is.

FlourishAnyway (author) from USA on December 10, 2016:

teaches12345 - 40 years -- amazing! It's wonderful to hear someone's testimony about love that lasts. Have a wonderful holiday season together. Thanks for stopping by.

teaches12345 on December 10, 2016:

Patsy Cline's song came to mind when I read your title, good choice in adding it first to your sweet topic. I am so crazy in love with my hubby -- still strong after 40 plus years.

FlourishAnyway (author) from USA on November 29, 2016:

Audrey - Patsy Cline was a master. Glad you enjoyed this. Have a crazy awesome week!

Audrey Howitt from California on November 29, 2016:

I love "Crazy"--I teach it often and it is still one of my favorite songs--fun list!

FlourishAnyway (author) from USA on November 28, 2016:

Martie - I like that song, too. I even have a cat nicknamed "Crazy" for obvious reasons. We tried to work with him for years, but after 14 years we realize he is what he is and we accept him. Everyone is unique. Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful week and keep informing us about South Africa. It gives us a reality check on the rest of the world and what's really going on rather than just the stuff on the news.

Martie Coetser from South Africa on November 28, 2016:

This list of crazy songs arouse many beautiful memories, thank you, Flourish! "Crazy" by Patsy Cline is one of my favorite songs since I can remember.

FlourishAnyway (author) from USA on November 28, 2016:

Bill - They say when you find a niche explore it to its edges and beyond so that's what I'm doing! So far, I haven't run out of topics, but I expect at one point I just might. Then I'll move on to something else and repeat. Hope your holiday weekend was a good one. Thanks for stopping by.

FlourishAnyway (author) from USA on November 28, 2016:

Linda - They are strange, aren't they? At a nearby gas station/Subway restaurant I ran into some feet planters and snapped a photo. They were really weird. I think I'll put those on here too.

Genna - Yep, Aerosmith and those big hair bands. Can't get enough of them. Living back in the day. Thank you for stopping by! Hope your Thanksgiving was crazy awesome!

Heidi Thorne from Chicago Area on November 28, 2016:

Of course, just seeing the title made me think of Patsy Cline's "Crazy." Another fun list that I'm sure would have been appropriate for Black Friday shopping. :) Happy Cyber Monday!

Gypsy Rose Lee from Daytona Beach, Florida on November 28, 2016:

A wonderful crazy hub with lots of great pics and fun music. My one all time favorite song is Billy Joel's You May Be Right. I've always said I'm still crazy after all these years and proud of it otherwise life would be no fun.

Bill De Giulio from Massachusetts on November 28, 2016:

Hi Flourish. Read in one of the comments that this is your 50th playlist hub? Wow, congratulations. Another great list with some timeless classics. Have a wonderful week.

Linda Crampton from British Columbia, Canada on November 27, 2016:

I'm impressed that you never run of ideas for your playlist articles, Flourish. This is another interesting one. I love the photo of the head planters. They're weird, but I'd like one!

Genna East from Massachusetts, USA on November 27, 2016:

FlourishAnyway (author) from USA on November 27, 2016:

Paula - They are two of my favorites too. It's so sad that they both died so young -- Patsy at 30 and Freddie at 45. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving as well. Have a great week!

Your song lists by category is so creative and unique. I am crazy about (pun intended) your #1 and #17 picks. Billy Joel's hit " you might be right I may be crazy" is my favorite. The chorus lyrics are "you might be right I may be crazy but maybe it's just a lunatic you're looking for."

I still enjoy when you do these hubs... I even utubed some of of them

Linda - Thank you for your kind encouragement. I'm so sorry about the loss of your kitty. I know that can hurt, and the grief can be like that for any other purrson. I hope you are not too afraid to love again when the time is right. Too many homeless cats need a heart as big as yours.

Linda Lum from Washington State, USA on November 25, 2016:

Ohmygoodness Flourish--how do you do it girl? The pics you use are as much a part of the hub as the songs you select. And your intro and song synopses and wonderful. You are so good at what you do. I knew many of these, but you have introduced me to a few more that I had not heard before. (BTW, I have only one cat now, but in my Heaven there will be an endless number of kitties to love and adore).
