The Christmas Song

“The Christmas Song” was originally written by Bob Wells and Mel Torme and originally recorded in 1946. The Christmas Song later appeared on the 1960 album The Magic of Christmas. The rerecording was conducted by Ralph Carmichael. Oddly enough, the song was written in the summer but has managed make Christmas a little more special for all that listen to it at this time of year.

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

“The Most Wonderful Time of the Year” was written by Edward Pola and George Wyle in 1963. This song was released that year on The Andy Williams Christmas Album. The song captures the true spirit of Christmas and has captivated us during the holidays for decades and many more decades to come.

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

“Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” was written in 1944 by Hugh Martin and Ralph Blane. The song was made famous when first introduced by Judy Garland in the musical Meet Me in St. Louis. Later, Frank Sinatra put his own ring to this hit by making some lyric modifications.

“River” was written by Joni Mitchell and introduced on her album Blue. This is a Christmas song describing a romantic relationship that was broken up. The song may have been inspired by her relationship with Graham Nash.

White Christmas

“White Christmas” was written by Irving Berlin between 1940 and 1942. The song is best known for the version that was sung by Bing Crosby. The Crosby version was a best-selling single selling 50 million copies around the world.

When Irving Berlin thought of the song he told his secretary "Grab your pen and take down this song. I just wrote the best song I've ever written—heck, I just wrote the best song that anybody's ever written!"

“All I Want for Christmas Is You” was written and produced by Mariah Carey and Walter Afanasieff. This Christmas song was released by Columbia records on November 1, 1994. This is a love song with an upbeat rhythm and a whole lot of bells chiming. "All I want for Christmas Is You" may be the best-selling Christmas song of modern times.

Little Saint Nick

“Little Saint Nick” was written by Brian Wilson and Mike Love of the Beach Boys. It’s known as a hot rod holiday song that talks about Santa and his sleigh. The song was first released on December 9, 1963. Wilson wrote the song while he was on a date.
