When life tries to break me down, only music can make me feel alright. Let me share music's greatest gift through my top playlists!
Love is a little more complicated than what some people might think. One of the hardest parts of falling for someone is the "unrequited love." Being stuck in the infamous space called the "friend zone" is the worst. This is where you fall in love with a friend, but he or she doesn't feel the same way and would just like to stay as friends. Have you ever been "friend-zoned" before? Let me make you feel a little bit better (or worse) with five of the most relatable songs about being stuck in the friend zone.
Top Songs About the Friend Zone

1. "FRIENDS" by Marshmello and Anne-Marie
Artists: Marshmello, Anne-Marie
Album: Speak Your Mind
Songwriters: Marshmello; Natalie Dunn; Anne-Marie Nicholson
This is one of the biggest hits of this year, having listed number 1 in several countries. It is about a girl trying to put her friend in "friend zone". It sounds like they've known each other since childhood and now the guy is expressing his love for her. But yeah, she doesn't love him that way and practically begging to stop fancying her because she only sees him as a brother and doesn't want to ruin the friendship they have. Hard for both parties in my opinion. By the way, Anne-Marie and Marshmello looks totally cute in the video. This is such an awesome song.
You say you love me, I say you crazy
We're nothing more than friends
You're not my lover, more like a brother
I known you since we were like ten, yeah
— Marshmello & Anne-Marie (FRIENDS)
2. "End Game" by Taylor Swift Ft. Ed Sheeran, Future
Artist: Taylor Swift
Featured artists: Ed Sheeran, Future
Genres: Rhythm and blues, Pop
Songwriters: Ed Sheeran, Johan Shellback, Max Martin, Nayvadius Wilburn, Taylor Swift
This is one of T-Swift's most current hit. This album is definitely different from Taylor's past sweet country albums, for it has a little more angst. In this track, she gives us a huge dose of pop, rap and all of Taylor's usual magic together with Ed Sheeran and Future's amazing rapping skills. The song is about someone who has a 'reputation' and is friend with someone who she wants to be her end game. "End game" refers to someone you will end up with. And in this instance, the girl doesn't want to level up they relationship because she's scared that they'll just break up and will not be the same anymore, but still hopes that they'll get together in the end.
I don't wanna touch you,
I don't wanna be
Just another ex-love,
you don’t wanna see
I don’t wanna miss you
(I don't wanna miss you)
Like the other girls do
— Taylor Swift ft. Ed Sheeran, Future (End Game)
3. "Prettiest" Friend by Jason Mraz
Artist: Jason Mraz
Album: Mr. A-Z
Songwriter: Jason Mraz
Jason Mraz never fails to give us all the feels, just like in this song that can be the theme song of all friend zone stories. It is about a guy who secretly likes a friend and is trying to make his move a tiny step at a time for he is afraid to scare her away. This is sang so smoothly and has such a romantic story for lyrics. Who wouldn't love a sweet Jason Mraz song that can make you remember that love is a beautiful thing?
I wrote this for my prettiest friend
But while trying not to prove that I care
I was trying not to make all my moves in one motion and scare her away
— Jason Mraz (Prettiest Friend)
4. "Friends" by Ed Sheeran
Artist: Ed Sheeran
Songwriter: Ed Sheeran
Written about his friends, Ed Sheeran's song "Friends" is about two people who are friends but seems to be more than that. They both feel that there's something going on between them. They just can't say what because it can bring complications in their life. They know that they can't be together yet they treat each other more than what they should. They're scared that someone would steal the other and that for me is the harder part. This is such a sad song and I hope that anyone experiencing this would find the courage to tear down the boundaries and get the love that they deserve.
But then again, if we're not friends
Someone else might love you too
And then again, if we're not friends
There'd be nothing I could do, and that's why
Friends should sleep in other beds
And friends shouldn't kiss me like you do
And I know that there's a limit to everything
But my friends won't love me like you
— Ed Sheeran (Friends)
5. "You Belong With Me" by Taylor Swift
Artist: Taylor Swift
Genres: Country pop, Pop
Songwriters: Liz Rose, Taylor Swift
Released almost ten years ago, this still gets me every time. Who did not sing along to this tune about secretly falling in love with a friend and being scared to say it because you don't think you're enough? This is cute and sad at the same time. We just hope that like in the music video, the sweet happy ending will also happen in real life and our crushes are also secretly in love with us. A girl can only dream.
I'm the one who makes you laugh
When you know you're about to cry
And I know your favorite songs
And you tell me about your dreams
I think I know where you belong
I think I know it's with me
— Taylor Swift (You Belong With Me)

Questions & Answers
Question: Can you make an article on how to make your friend crush on you?
Answer: I hope I can, but I don't think I'm an expert in that department to write a whole article about it. But this I know for a fact -- you just have to be yourself. You can never be wrong if you're staying real. If you like someone, let him/her like you for who you really are -- for your smile, your quirks, your weirdness, your personality. You don't have to do anything else. If he/she doesn't find him/herself liking you back then maybe it means that you're not a perfect match to begin with. For me, we don't need to read a whole article just to have our crush like us back. We just have to let them know who we really are and then wait and see.
Question: How can you tell if your crush likes you?
Answer: The easiest way is asking him/her. I know it can be hard, but it's worth the shot if you like the person. But if you still aren't confident enough to ask, maybe you can look at how that person treats you and then compare it to how that person treats his/her other peers. If he/she's much sweeter or more attentive to you, there is a higher chance he/she is into you too. If someone likes you, they will try their best to let you know, but sometimes, they are just waiting for you to take the first move. I'm not a love guru and no way an expert in relationships, but I just advise you to follow your guts, even if it doesn't work out as you wanted it to, at least you've tried.
