Career of Kana Nishino until 2008
Kana Nishino is a Japanese pop music singer. From a young age, she learned English from attending English conversation schools. She even visited the United States twice. Those vacations seemed to have had a profound influence on Nishino’s life. She then began to show an interest in various genres of music such as hip-hop, R & B, and reggae. Kana also developed an enjoyment for Japanese literature and started singing Japanese folk songs. It was in junior high school that Kana’s dream of becoming a singer started. When Kana was 16 years old, her mother secretly sent a demo tape of Kana to the Miss Phoenix Audition. Kana was rated as the top singer that entered the competition out of 40,000 applicants! In 2006, Kana was signed to SME Records and she started vocal training. In 2007 while she was preparing for life as a singer, Nishino was also studying English at the university. At that time, she met the Australian duo called Nervo. The duo offered Nishino a song called “I Don’t Wanna Know” so that she could use that song in her musical project. Nishino re-wrote the lyrics of that song in Japanese. The song was re-titled “I” and it would become her debut single. After two singles that did not do very well, Nishino was chosen to sing the second ending theme for the anime called Soul Eater. Kana would release her 3rd single called Style. The song would be her highest selling single of 2008.

Two more reasons why Kana should be recognized for more than just being a pop music singer
Not to be confused with bikini model Kana Tsugihara, this Kana is a pop music singer. She was born in the same month as AKB48 singer Mayu Watanabe. There are two major reasons why Kana Nishino should be recognized for more than just being a pop music singer. The first reason is that CNN announced that Kana is the favorite singer of many teenage girls in Shibuya, an area of Tokyo. Nishino released a new single called Darling on August 13, 2014, two weeks before the release of AKB48’s 37th single called Kokoro no Placard. I mention this because it is interesting to me how these events happened at near the same time. Darling is the daily theme song for FUJI TV’s Mezamashi TV program which airs every Tuesday. Nishino wrote the lyrics by herself and it has the theme of “a love song that I want you to listen to together with your special person.” Kana Nishino has been a part of live events such as the MTV Video Music Aid Japan Red Carpet event on June 25, 2011 in Chiba, Japan. Pop and R & B singer Namie Amuro has also been part of this event. More recently, Kana sang during the Video Music Awards Japan event on June 22, 2013 in Chiba. That is the second reason she should be given praise for what she has done: her attention to charity and good causes.
The importance of Chiba, Japan to the Japanese entertainment industry
What is it about Chiba that is so special? I don’t know what but that area of Japan has given birth to two celebrities that I feel have left a great influence and contribution to the Japanese entertainment scene. They are Harumi Nemoto and Atsuko Maeda. But since this article is about Kana Nishino, the focus should be on her and what she has done.

How did Kana Nishino become famous?
Kana’s career would begin to take off in the right direction after the release of her 5th single called Tookutemo. At this time, Kana’s musical style would change and the song would reach #40 on the Oricon Music Charts. It would be three months later that Nishino would release the single called “Kimi ni Aitaku Naru Kara.” The single became her first one to enter into the top 30 of the Oricon charts. Following the success of this single, Nishino’s debut album called LOVE one would be released three weeks later. The album would have all six of her singles on it. It would debut at #4 on the musical charts and have a very long shelf life. After this, Nishino became famous. Kana Nishino would release her 7th single called Motto in October 2009. Around this time, girl group AKB48 was getting really popular with Atsuko Maeda being voted the group’s most popular member in 2009 and 2011 although she would come in 2nd place in 2010 losing to Yuko Oshima.

More commercial success for Kana Nishino and the release of the album To Love
Kana would release two more singles, Best Friend and Aitakute, Aitakute. After this, her second album called To Love was released on June 23, 2010. Kana would continue to release more singles though. On August 4, 2010, she would release her 11th single called IF. The song would be used as the theme and the ending song for the movie called “Naruto Shippuden 4: The Lost Tower.” This single also did very well, reaching #5 on the Oricon charts and selling 85,000 copies. Nishino would follow up this success by releasing her 12th single called “Kimi tte” on November 23, 2010.
Kana Nishino's success in Japan and her modeling work
Kana would start to have success in her native Japan as well. She would take part in the 61st Kohaku Uta Gassen or red and white singing contest which would take place on December 31, 2010. She sang the song Best Friend. Kana would release the single called Distance on February 9, 2011. In the spring of 2012, she began to be noticed. As a result of what was called her “cute looks,” Kana would have her appear in such magazines as CUTIE, Ray, and ViVi, a magazine that singer Namie Amuro appeared in as well. Nishino would release her 4th album called Love Place in September 2012. The album would be released in two versions. One of them was a limited CD and DVD edition. The other one was a CD only edition. There was a song called “Be Strong” that was used to promote the album. Love Place would be re-released in Taiwan. That version would have a 2013 desk calendar in it. The album would win best prize in the event called Grand Prix Nippon Shining 54th for latest original album. This has been a look at who Kana Nishino is and why she should be given more praise for the contributions that she has made. More importantly, she has been a celebrity that has been in the industry for the right reasons. She is scheduled to release a new single called Your Favorite Places on April 27, 2016.
