If GD and TOP is the best rap duo, then Rap Monster, Suga, and J-hope is the best rap trio! They are the pride of BTS, which includes the best rapper lineup ever formed. With Rap Monster is the most skilled, most talented, and most intelligent member of the trio. He can spit fire, creating and weaving together complex rhymes in a split second! When it comes to mind-blowing speed, clarity, and flow, he's the real deal. J-hope is also a brilliant rapper. Aside from his musical talent, he is also bright and articulate. Rap Monster described him as a happy person. He said,“If I’m fire, J-Hope is water. He’s good at ‘turning off’ my bad habits." On the other hand, Suga is more than just a sweet looking guy. When you hear him rap, you'll be amazed by his talent! Even J-hope acknowledges his cool rapping skills and composition. Because he’s in charge of fixing the things that Rap Monster breaks and disciplining the younger members when they make a mistakes, Suga acts as the father of BTS. In my opinion, the three of them have the best harmony in all of K-pop.
2. G-Dragon and TOP (Big Bang)
Age: 30 (G-Dragon), 31 (TOP)
Birthday: August 18, 1988 (G-Dragon), November 4, 1987 (TOP)
The best hip-hop duo in the history of K-pop music is none other than GD and TOP. GD, whose real name is Kwon Ji-yong, is not only a talented rapper, but also a brilliant songwriter. Choi Seung-hyun, our beloved TOP, is a naturally gifted rapper. They are members of the incredibly influential Korean pop group Big Bang. G-Dragon is one of the best idol rappers because of his great flow, clear delivery, and versatility. Together with TOP, who is recognized for his low-bass timbre rapping, these two Big Bang idols are the perfect hip-hop duo! Because of their incredible talent and strong charisma, they both won awards at the 2011 Melon Music Awards in the rap and hip-hop category.
3. Yongguk (BAP)
Birthday: March 31, 1990
Bang Yong-guk, commonly known as Yongguk, was born for hip-hop. He is the rapper of the popular K-pop male group B.A.P. Before he became famous as an idol, he used to be a well-known underground rapper under the alias of "Jepp Blackman." He has an amazingly deep and emotional voice. His style is smooth, with great flow and nice rhythm. Due to his huge influence and contribution to Korea's hip-hop music and culture, he is considered to be one of the best K-pop Idols. Besides rapping, he also acts as a songwriter and producer for many of B.A.P's songs.
4. Junhyung (BEAST/B2ST)
Birthday: December 19, 1989
Yong Jun-hyung, who is commonly known as Junhyung (and less commonly as Poppin' Dragon and Joker), raps in the boy group Beast. He is not only an amazing rapper, but he is also a wonderful songwriter. He is credited as the songwriter and composer for many of the rap lyrics on B2ST's songs. His natural talent for language and composition make his lyrics quite powerful. His rap style is beloved by fans because of how raw and honest it is. When he's rapping, you can tell that he's sincere.
5. Chanyeol (EXO)
Birthday: November 27, 1992
Another talented, but innocent looking, rapper is Park Chanyeol from the decade's bestselling K-pop group EXO. He can rap with incredible speed, which gives his lyrics a cool, bad boy feel. But, he doesn't just rap to look tough. In fact, his lyrics also go well with sad or lonely sounding melodies. (For example, listen to the song "Promise.") Not only can he rap, but Chanyeol is also an excellent songwriter, composer, host, and actor. (He took a supporting role in the South Korean film Salut d'Amour in 2015.)
6. Baro (B1A4)
Birthday: September 5, 1992
The main rapper of the colorful, sunny, and youthful K-pop boy group B1A4 is Cha Sun-woo, who's often referred to by his stage name Baro. He has a wonderfully masculine voice that perfectly meshes with his bandmates' smooth vocals—especially the high-pitched Sandeul and Jinyoung. (His manly voice is surprisingly similar to Big Bang's TOP.) He may not be able to rap as fast as others', but his lyrics are always powerful. Besides being a powerful rapper, he can also sing a sweet ballad. When he's not rapping, he works as an actor, starring in such films as the drama God's Gift-14 Days (in which he played a mentally-ill teenager) and Reply 1994 (in which he played Kim Dong-jun).
7. Zico (Block B)
Birthday: September 14, 1992
While he seems like a cute, innocent boy idol, Woo Ji-ho (also known as Zico) of Block B is actually a very manly rapper. His rap style is what gives the group's songs the bad boy feel that made them famous. His flow is amazing! Even when he's performing speed rap, he can still maintain the rhythm. He has a smooth breathing technique, so he's able to rap on softer songs, as well. On top of being a rapper, he is also a producer of both K-pop and Korean hip-hop music.
8. Il-hoon (BTOB)
Birthday: October 4, 1994
Jung Il-hoon is one of the main rappers of the K-pop boy group BtoB. The group specializes in dance-pop, balladry, and R&B beats. Ilhoon's rap style perfectly meshes with the group. His words are clear, his diction sounds great, and his lyrics are deeply emotional. He is well known for working with Hyuna and G.NA. His cool rap blends well with the girls' hot and sexy voices. (I definitely appreciated the collaborations.) Aside from his work as a rapper, he has also hosted (as an assistant MC) the variety show Weekly Idol.
9. Mino (Winner)
Birthday: March 30, 1993
Song Min-ho, who is better known as Mino, is a rapper in the K-pop boy band Winner. He was also a member of the underground rap scene, where he performed with other rappers-turned-idols under the name "Mino" or "Hugeboy Mino." His stage presence is superb (so strong and confident). For example, just listen to his incredible performance on the song "I'm Him." In December 2014, he collaborated with 2PM's Nichkhun, CNBLUE's Yonghwa, Infinite's L, and B1A4's Baro during a performance at the 2014 SBS Gayo Daejeon.
10. Ravi (VIXX)
Birthday: February 15, 1993
Ravi, whose real name is Kim Won-sik, is a rapper in the K-pop group VIXX. He is very talented and truly stands out from other K-pop rappers. His high-pitched voice is intense and aggressive. His voice hypes you up and makes you want to dance. His confidence is truly impressive. In 2014, he collaborated with American artist Chad Future on the song "Rock the World," which appeared on Chad's first mini-album. (He also appeared in the music video for the single.) Besides rapping, he also writes and composes several of VIXX's songs.
