Top 10 BTS Songs With the Best Lyrics

Updated on September 20, 2017

Meaningful, powerful, and touching. A song that expresses the hidden emotions of the youth. A song that addresses some of the biggest issues that seemed to be unknown to society. A song about loneliness, pressure, and depression. A song that you can listen to when you're missing someone. A song about your first love. Whatever your mood is, there is always a song for you from the most popular K-Pop boy group of today, BTS.

While some of BTS' songs are already successful in the mainstream Korean music, such as 'Fire', 'Dope', 'Blood, Sweat, and Tears', and 'Not Today', there are many other songs that you can listen and relate to. Some of them are underrated, but definitely worth listening. Here are the top 10 BTS songs with the best, most inspiring, motivating, and life-changing lyrics.

10. 21st Century Girls

Album: Wings (2016)

This song is not your typical sweet serenade, but a powerful and modern song for the 21st century ladies. The boys motivates us, ladies, to be confident, carefree, and be ourselves. Here's some of the most beautiful lines from the song that will make you step right out of your comfort zone and be the best that you can ever be.

You worth it you perfect
Deserve it just work it
You look elegant, elegant also you’re pretty, pretty
You shine, shine. You’re the truth and the reason

If anyone keeps insulting you (insulting you)
Tell em you’re my lady, go tell them (tell them)
Whatever other people say, whatever this world tells you
You’re the best to me just the way you are

Don’t ever be scared
Whatever people say, you’re okay (Alright)
You are strong
You say yes or no yes or no

Wouldn't that be enough to make you fire up today, girls?

9. Run

Album: The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Pt. 2 (2015)

A wonderful song which makes you think about life and youth, "Run" expresses the feeling of how hard it is to be in-between being young and being matured. As to why it is entitled "Run", BTS said, "[The Most Beautiful Moment in Life] Part one explained how youth is tiring and difficult, and it also touched on how we feel like we’re always on edge. Part two will have a more adventurous and daring feel to it. That’s why our title song is ‘Run.'" Here's the song's most popular line:

Run, run, run again
It’s okay to fall
Run, run. Run, again
It’s okay to get hurt
I’m alright, even if I can’t have you
Pitiful destiny, point your finger at me

Yes, it's okay to fall, make mistakes, and feel down. It's okay to get failures in life, but remember, failure is not the end of the world. You can run and chase after what's right, and that's how BTS comforts us through this song.

8. We Are Bulletproof, Pt. 2

Album: 2 Cool 4 Skool (2013)

Back to the days when BTS is your favorite "young bad boys" that sings and dances with confidence, yet they can't erase that cute and squishy image. Back to the days when the baby maknae Jungkook is spitting fire with his rap! One incredibly brilliant song from their debut days is the song that introduces the seven talented boys and what they had to go through to make it in the K-pop industry. You definitely have to listen carefully to this song as they tell the tale of their lives, the pressure, sacrifices, and hardships, and why they are "bulletproof".

(Jungkook) I pulled all-nighters at practice rooms
Instead of school, dancing and singing
While you guys partied, I gave up sleep for my dreams
I spent all night holding a pen
Closing my eyes only after the morning sun rises

(J-hope) Look at my profile, there’s nothing there yet
Still a trainee and rapper man
Yeah I do know that’s nothing
I contemplated a lot but now I don’t need anything

(RM) I can eat up any kind of beat like a monster
I’m loyal to my name, guys come here, take a preview
I put a twist to being an idol
Haha, hyungs who only had hip-hop pride
Told me it’d be impossible but
Look carefully, I place a period after impossible
I’m possible, now are we all set, boy?

7. Best of Me

Album: Love Yourself: Her (2017)

A new song from the new album, this song is beautiful not only in sound but also in words. With a cheerful upbeat and bright mood, this will really give out the best in you! The lyrics of "Best of Me" is like asking the girl for an assurance that she will never leave the boy who loved her with all his heart. As usual, BTS poured their heart on this song, so we can all feel the love overflowing just by hearing it.

When you say that you love me
Feels like I’m walking across the sky
Tell me about forever, just one more time
When you say that you love me
I just need those words
That you’ll never change, just one more time

Love is indeed a wonderful feeling... The one that brings the sunshine after the rain and saving you from eternal loneliness and darkness.

It was raining, it was snowing
But all unhappiness stopped
You brought heaven to me
Don’t speak so easily
Because without you, there’s no me
You’re the best of me
The best of me

And in the end, the boy asks the girl if she will not change... ever.

Just give me assurance
That’s all I want
Even if there are no rules
Laws of love do exist

6. Baepsae

Album: The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Pt. 2 (2015)

Another amazing song that features how hard it is to be a youth in this generation. The word "baepsae" is a Korean word for a Crow-tit bird, but is also translated in English as "silver spoon" or trying hard", which implies that most kids today are branded by grown-ups as "baepsae", the one that will do anything to climb up in the society, no matter what it takes. But as we all know, this generation has the highest point of pressure, and most of the grown-ups who made it in the higher class will always look down on the "newbies" or youth of this generation. The song goes with a line that says:

They call me a try-hard.
Our generation has had it hard.
Hurry, chase ‘em,
thanks to those that came before us I’m spread too thin.

I’ve got a crow-tit’s legs, and you have a stork’s legs.
They all say their legs are worth a million bucks.
My legs are shorter, so how do you expect me to keep up?
They say it shouldn’t matter since we’re coming from the same place.
Never, never, never.

Change the rules, change change.
The ones who came before us want to, want to maintain.
But we can’t do that, bang bang.
This ain’t normal.
This ain’t normal.

Do you feel the same way as them? I bet most of you does.

5. NO

Album: O! RUL8,2? (2014)

One word that negates, rejects, and simply dismiss everything - it's a NO! Most of the songs listed here tackles more about social issue than love, and "NO" is a song from BTS' debut days that has a very strong message about living our life under other's expectation. Feeling choked by the environment, our boys decided to break the wall and jump over the fence, to shout "NO" at the top of their lungs.

A good house, a good car,
Will these things bring happiness?
In Seoul, to the sky,
Will parents really be happy?

School maybe a place for education, but do students still feel that way? Isn't it like living in a pressure cooker with a timer attached?

Dreams disappeared,
There was no time to rest
It’s a cycle of school,
Home or an Internet cafe
Everyone lives the same life
Students who are pressured to be number
One live in between dreams and reality

No one can ever influence or dictate you with your life, because you have the mind, the soul, and the freedom to choose. This song has an encouraging reminder:

Everybody say NO!
It can’t be any later
Don’t be trapped in someone else’s dream

4. Spine Breaker

Album: Skool Luv Affair (2014)

Narcissism, self-centeredness, and selfishness. Everything about oneself is not just a trend, but a social problem as well. This song is a powerful wake-up call to show how big the difference is between the rich, the poor, and the 'try-hard's. A social issue that doesn't end, but influences more youth to climb in the top class, without considering others, especially their parents. It is indeed a wake-up message that money can buy any material thing, but it can never buy life and respect.

The class system of the 21st century is divided into two: Those who have and those who haven’t
Those who wear the shoes and those who don’t
Those who have the clothes and those who don’t
And those who try hard to get those things

Even after seeing your parents’ curved spines, you’re so cold-hearted
You complain that all your friends have it and that they should buy it for you
(Ayo baby) stop being so immature
You won’t freeze just because you don’t have that jacket
Fill your head with good sense before it’s too late

Some of us can relate to the lines, right? So, how do you view this social issue? I guess you can all agree to this - even if we close our eyes, we know the truth that it is happening in the world.

3. Spring Day

Album: Wings (2016)

Like a sweet intoxication, Spring Day has a lovely sound yet sad lyrics which shows BTS' artistic taste in music. A lonely song yet features a warm love makes it one perfect music masterpiece. Hearing Rap Monster's "bogoshipda" in the intro is already a total turn on. Plus, Suga's cold voice saying "Niga byeonhan geonji" will make you fall deeper for the song. But the best part is Jungkook and V's chorus which goes:

Snowflakes fall down
And get farther away little by little
I miss you (I miss you)
I miss you (I miss you)
How much longer do I have to wait?
How many more nights do I have to stay awake?
To see you (to see you)
To meet you (to see you)

The boys successfully expressed the feeling of sadness, longing for someone you're dying to see and embrace. But worry not, because no sadness is forever, we just have to wait and the right time will come that tears will no longer fall, and distance is not out of sight.

2. Just One Day

Album: Skool in Luv (2014)

While BTS started to establish their image as 'bad boys', they later turned into a more subtle, lovable, and youthful-looking boys. Their music ventured from a rebellious tone into a romantic, first-love concept. Their album, Skool in Luv features the sweet song entitled Just One Day, with Suga's rap on the front line, saying:

If only I had just one day
I want to peacefully fall asleep
intoxicated with your sweet scent...

Everyone would cringe with that cheesy line, right? Try to imagine how sweet that line is. The boy is desperately hoping for a single day when he could meet his girl. But isn't it quite amazing how the boy is yearning for the girl even just for a day, just like how every Army would want to see the boys for just one moment? It expresses not only the love of a young man wishing for the girl to see him, but on the other side, it also expresses the wish of many Armies to see BTS even for just one day. As the chorus says:

Just one day, if I can be with you
Just one day, if I can hold your hands
Just one day, if I can be with you
Just one day (just one day)
If only we can be together

Anyone hearing the song would probably imagine a day where they can date with the boys, and that day would be the best day ever.

1. DNA

Album: Love Yourself: Her (2017)

It's just a brand new song from BTS, but you're gonna love it so much, not because it's trending or popular, but mainly because DNA's lyrics is simply the best. While most of the old songs are about social issues, the newest song is a refreshing twist into a sweet, colorful, bombastic, bright, and energetic pop music. DNA is a smart song about finding your one true love like it's the 'eureka' to an experiment and the ultimate match to your soul.

How can you be sure that you've found "the one"? This song says:

The DNA in my blood vessels tell me
That it’s you I was looking all over for

And what's more...

Our meeting is like a mathematical formula

Love sounds so intellectual, right? Besides, love may sometimes give you an unexplained feeling like this:

Every time I see her, I freak out
Surprisingly, I keep gasping and it’s weird, maybe
This is the emotion they call love
Because from the very beginning, my heart runs to you

Now that's sweet, and that's what your DNA can do!

That's it!

For me Best of Me isn't really about romance. A lot of bts songs has double meanings though. I personally think that Best of Me is more about how bts will always give us their best and hope that we, ARMY, won't leave them.

I think they’re lyrics for NO mean the most to me because my country is also based on education, but I always overhear kids talking about about how much they don’t want to become what their parents want them to become. It’s kind of sad to see and breaks my hearts because my parents want me also to become something I don’t want to be.
