Introducing Rich O'Toole

Country musicians are a gift that keep on giving. Country songs consist of lyrics, music and vocals, all wrapped up and presented to the fans to treasure.

No matter where your journey of life may take you, chances are there is a country music song that you could relate to. Whether these songs make you happy, sad or yell yeehaw, you will always remember the lyrics that helped carry you along.

Join me as I introduce you to another amazing artist who is as passionate about singing country music as the fans are with enjoying the ride. And what a ride I'm about to take y'all on as I introduce you to a fantastic musician from The Lone Star State.

Rich O'Toole was born and bred in Houston, Texas and now calls the Hill Country north of San Antonio, Texas his home.

Let's go y'all and meet country-rocker Rich O'Toole. His wit, charisma, talent and fondness for tacos just might make you a fan too!

Favorite Food - Drink - Dessert?

Tacos, Chinese Food, Red Wine and Cheesecake.

Sidenote: I follow Rich on Instagram and his food photos are not only entertaining, but they also make me hungry and possibly gain weight just from looking. He should receive endorsements from the establishments he promotes!

Is There a Family History of Musicians?

Not really, I am the first one. My grandma played the organ.

Do You Have a Pre-Performance Ritual?

I focus and drink two Coors Light beers - then I go rock the stage.

How Did You Get Started in the Music Business?

I began by playing at the back porch of the Dixie Chicken in College Station, Texas.


Is There a Musician That Inspired You?

Absolutely! Bruce Springsteen and Robert Earl Keen.

Who Inspired Your Love of Music?

My mother. She would listen to Rock 101 in Houston when she was getting ready for work.

Would You Prefer a Record Deal or to be Independant?

I think Independent because it's the most fun and offers me lots of challenges.

Advice For an Aspiring Artist?

Never quit. Work hard every day at getting better and improving your talent.

Your Thoughts on the Evolution of Country Music?

Everything changes for the better or worse.

Have You Had Vocal Training?

Not really. I learned to sing listening to Jason Boland live at Billy Bob's.

Which Instruments Do You Play?

The guitar, mandolin and drums.

Do You Write Your Own Songs?

Yes, about 95% of them.

Have You Written Songs For Other Musicians?

Yes. Josh Abbott, Kyle Park, Scooter Brown Band and Pear Ratz.

A Song That You Are Working On Now?

Casino Lights. It's about a wild trip to Las Vegas.

A Special Song That You Wrote?

I Thank God. This song is about my mom, she is amazing!

Hopefully we can just grow to play beautiful theaters around the US and Europe.

How Long Have You Been in the Entertainment Industry?

About 10 years. It's been a long and hard journey, but well worth it.

Most Memorable Career Moment So Far?

Getting to open Robert Earl Keen's Christmas show in my hometown of Houston, Texas.

My two favorite things! Ha!!

Sidenote: It was via this song that I was introduced to Rich O'Toole's music. The first time I heard the song on Nashville iHeart Radio I instantly researched the musician and began to follow him on social media. My thoughts were, anyone who was creative enough to write a song about marijuana and jalapenos must be a badass artist! I was correct.

      I love this guy's sound and sense of humor, Linda. His Marijuana Jalepenos song is pretty ballsy. The video had a surprise ending - caught me by surprise.

      My girls and I begin to make a list of what we would toss over the wall, then the wall gets nixed, then it's back indecisive, but I agree, Rich would definitely be on the list. His music is just what we need to have a good darn time!
